Love Where You Live – Ardross

Ardross, with rich Scottish history after being acquired by the Scotsman, Sir Alexander Percival Matheson in 1896, is located immediately south of Canning Highway and sits just north of Westfield Booragoon Shopping Centre, with Wireless Hill Park running along its western boundary.

Home to two great public schools; Ardross Primary School and Applecross Senior High School, parents will appreciate that the high school regularly ranks in the top 10 high schools academically in WA. Applecross Senior High School runs dedicated art, tennis and chess programs, and has traditionally been dominant in these areas. It also runs Academic Extension classes for those students talented in the areas of English, Maths, Science, Society and Environment, French and Japanese.

One of Perth’s largest shopping centres is Westfield Booragoon. This district shopping hub has everything you need and is complemented by the Riseley Street Precinct which is only a short drive up the road where you can always find a range of shopping, dining and personal service options.

The river is less than a 10-minute walk away for most Ardross residents. There are also many parks, including the very well-known Shirley Strickland Reserve and the 40-hectare Wireless Hill Park, which has undergone extensive refurbishments to include a fantastic nature playground. The playground incorporates the history of telecommunications and Aboriginal culture, and you can even climb one of the two old radio mast anchors.

Wireless Hill Park is a great place to spend the day with family and friends. There are picnic shelters, lots of grassed area, BBQ’s, toilets and free parking.  You can enjoy a nature walk (approx. 1.5km round walk), climb trees and take in some history with the museum and war memorial inside the park.

With quiet and leafy streets, Ardross is sandwiched between Booragoon, Applecross and Mount Pleasant, and has a mix of housing styles throughout the suburb, with some older style homes and plenty of modern custom home designs lining the streets. Situated along Canning Highway, it has great transport options with easy access to Fremantle and the CBD. Overall, Ardross must be described as a great family suburb.
