Event Details

The City of Melville, Ieramudagu (Roeburne) Community and Big hART are collaborating to present a unique, free family concert under the stars at Dyoondalup, Point Walter Reserve.

Songs for Freedom is a concert which captures the essence of the Pilbara and captures the joy of living on country, and the spirit of a town which knows love, loss and resilience and is a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in a beautiful live performance that has never before been seen in Perth, a moment for reflection to share with family and friends.

Come and join the musical journey that reflects the great north west of the state.

The Concert features an ensemble of prominent Ieramugadu and Western Australian musicians, including Stephen and Naomi Pigram, John Bennett and Lois Olney and directed by Grammy award-winning artist Lucky Oceans.

The concert will run between 7.00pm to 9.30pm and is free to attend with no bookings required.

A series of pre-concert activities featuring Noongar artists and storytellers will be on offer from 5:00pm for children and families to enjoy.

Up on the hill, Noongar storytellers will share stories of Dyoondalup, celebrating this country, community and culture.

Under the trees, artist Sharyn Egan will create woven mobiles using natural fibres with families. Each mobile will be adorned with its own twinkling LED and hung from the trees to shine a light as the sun sets.

Down by the foreshore, join us in welcoming the Roebourne community to this special place by adding your own contribution to a giant sand mural in front of the stage.

All activities are free, but spaces are limited so get in early to secure your spot.

So settle in from 5.00pm, grab your spot and enjoy some of the great pre-concert activities and the amazing cuisine on offer from the food trucks.
