Join the City of Melville in celebrating the NAIDOC week 2020 theme of “Always Was Always Will Be” by learning alongside us about the ongoing impacts of our shared history of colonisation and dispossession, and the importance of Connection to Country and Culture for First Nations People.
Meet ten-year-old Dujuan, a child-healer, a good hunter and speaks three languages, as he discovers the resilience and resistance of many generations of his people and faces the history that runs straight into him.
5.00pm – 7.00pm – Children’s activities, BBQ and service stalls
7.00pm – 7:30pm – Welcome to Country and City of Melville film loop
7:30pm – 9.00pm – main screening “In My Blood It Runs”

NOTE: BYO outdoor chairs, rugs and additional food and drinks (alcohol is not permitted).
Getting there by car: Limited street parking is available nearby.
Getting there by public transport: There is a bus stop located across the road from George Humes Park or alternatively the park is a short walk from Leach Highway. Visit the Transperth website and use their Journey Planner to plan your journey to and from the Willagee Movie Night.
Getting there by bike (or on foot): Ride your bike instead! Bike parking is available, remember to bring you own lock. Plan your ride with the TravelSmart map.
Accessibility: The movie night is accessible and inclusive. ACROD parking is available onsite. Wheelchair accessible toilets are also available on site.
Toilets: Accessible toilets are available onsite.
First Aid: Designated First Aid representatives will be available on the night, please alert them of any medical emergencies immediately.
Weather: In the event of bad weather, please check the City of Melville Facebook page where we will update you with any changes or cancellations. You can also subscribe to any updates by selecting ‘Going’ or ‘Interested’ on the Facebook event.
Food and Drink: A BBQ will be running between 5-7pm, however we encourage you to bring food and drink and enjoy the evening with us.
Photography and Videography: We will have event photographers and videographers documenting the event. If you do not want your photo taken, please let the camera person know.
